fCare - Has Birth Control 'Controlled' Your "Period Poops"? .2022

Let me know if this should go in one of the more menstruation focused subreddits. I put it here because I detail specifics about different types of birth control.

Has ANYONE had success treating gastrointestinal upset related to periods (specifically diarrhea) with birth control?

I know how prostaglandins work and why this is happening, I just don't understand why I can't get it under control!

I've made the appropriate lifestyle changes since my doctor and I haven't ruled out IBS, but unlike a chronic disease like IBS, this is on a schedule. It doesn't matter how good my diet has been, fiber intake, allergies, if I've been working out, stress management. The only consistent factor is, like clock-work, the diarrhea comes 5-7 days before and 2 days after my period. It's affecting my overall quality of life now. I'm missing work or being sent home because of it. My sex life is struggling because I only feel good enough for sex maybe two weeks out of the month. It's made me more depressed because it's affecting my social life. I know I have to stay home at certain times during the month to be close to my toilet. I never had this problem until I hit 26. I'm pushing 30 now and the symptoms have not improved in the last 3 years. I can't imagine doing this every month until menopause...

I've only tried 3-4 different kinds of combination pills since I was a teen. I know there's hundreds. In my early 20s I tried the mini pill, the shot, and the Nexplanon implant. I can't tolerate the progestin only methods. I bled for 9 months straight with the implant and had consistent bleeding on the two mini pills I tried. I also have had migraines with aura in the past; this has made my doctors leery of giving me estrogens at certain levels. My Gyno thought "Lo Loestrin" would be a good compromise, hoping it would have enough estrogen to keep me from bleeding incessantly. I'm almost through the entire first pack and so far I've bled through most of it. I'm hoping I just need to keep experimenting to find a combination that works for me. I'd like to hear other's experiences with this. I feel alone. None of my friends deal with this. My mother doesn't and my grandmother didn't. Seems like nobody has experienced this or found a way to cope with it.

Has birth control helped these symptoms for any of you? Am I on the right track to keep looking, or should I give up, accept this part of my life and stock up on Imodium, Pepto and possibly adult diapers?
