My experience : On the pill, is there a window of time you can take it?

So my gf takes the pill every night at 8pm. She has an alarm to remember. Yesterday we had sex and I came inside. Then we went to watch a movie and she decided to take the pill 20 minutes early. She said it's cool as long as it's close to the time.

But she also told me that last week she almost forgot to take it and was 45 minutes late but she said it's close enough.

This made me wonder, is there a window she can take it? Like from 7pm-9pm? Or is it very important to take it at 8pm exactly every day?
