My experience : Expulsion risks hormonal vs copper coil??

I had a copper coil for 6 months before it expelled itself during a heavy period which has put me off getting it replaced as I feel I was lucky to notice! I am currently back on the mini pill but wish I wasn’t back to taking a pill each day. I’ve heard that after one expulsion the likelihood of another is higher but wondered whether not having heavier periods caused by the copper coil would make this less likely if I were to get a hormonal? Or if anyone has experience switching from one to the other or just getting any coil reinserted without further issues after expulsion?
