My experience : How to safely get off the pill?

So I was and still am on nexplanon and it gave me a constant period that went on for months. To help regulate my cycle, my GP put me on BC pills (Levlen ED) at the start of the year and I’m about mid way though my last pack.

Unfortunately, I can’t get an appointment with her or my other doctor for a while and don’t think I’ll have the opportunity prior to my pack ending so I was wondering if anyone had advice on getting off the pill? Do I just stop cold turkey once the pack ends?

I’ve never been on the pill before and I really have no clue on what the side effects would be of coming off or if there’s a specific way I’m supposed to do it. I do plan on going to the doctor at some point just because I have a feeling my prolonged periods might comeback cause of nexplanon and just to do a checkup but I’d appreciate any advice in the meantime.
