My experience : Nexplanon
I know everyone has different experiences but I was wondering about people's experiences with nexplanon? I've been on depo for about 3 years now and my doctor suggested I switch to an IUD because he thinks depo caused my weight gain (I'm doubtful of because it's mainly been in the last 6 months to a year) but I'm thinking about switching anyway because I've always had concerns about the loss of bone mineral density. That and i feel it has made me much more irritable and i honestly dont remember what its like to have a libido lol. I'm not too fond of the idea of getting an IUD for various reasons. First being the speculum itself (vaginismus) and the fact that I have a very low pain tolerance for the actual insertion part but also I feel I would have a lot of anxiety over expulsion and constantly checking strings.
Nexplanon has recently become available where I am, but as far as I know it would have the same side effects as depo (without the bone mineral density) but possibly worse because it's a higher dose of hormones that's still being circulated throughout the body. I know most people get it taken out because of irregular bleeding but that's honestly not too much of a concern for me because i put up with almost a year of it when I first got on depo haha. I'm just unsure of risking more weight gain.
Just not sure what to do anymore. Pills are out of the question because I am incapable of remembering to take them. Even for short periods of time honestly.
