My experience : Quitting Birth Control After 13 Years

When I was 19 I was put on birth control pills to deal with heavy and irregular periods. I was never really told anything about side effects or the process of quitting. When I turned 26, I swapped out the pill for Nexplanon, which I only kept for about a year due to horrible side effects and went back to the pill and have been on since (I’m now 32). A few months back, I spoke to my doctor about quitting the pill because my husband and I want to start a family. She immediately got excited about “baby” and failed to tell me anything I’d expect or experience when quitting. I just stopped taking the pill almost 2 weeks ago and I’m experiencing all sorts of things and I can’t really find any websites mentioning these side effects and how long they’ll last. I have been extremely bloated for the last 5 days and can hardly eat because 8 bites of food feels like a 4 course meal. I get random waves of nausea since about the second day of quitting. I’ve been constipated for the last 3 days, which is something I’ve never had an issue with before (I took something last night so I hope it helps soon). The bloating and constipation are at the point where I weigh nearly 3 pounds more than I usually do. I have always had little dizzy spells randomly over the years (inner ear damage from childhood ear infections, I think), but they’ve been a little worse too. It’s definitely overwhelming wondering what is going to happen next and how my period is going to be now. Did anyone have similar experiences? How long did it last for you? Any recommendations for things I should have on hand?
