My experience : depo shot bleeding after years

I’ve been on the depo shot for about 2 years and didn’t have any periods but last month i started having a period and it came again this month on the same day. I know irregular bleeding can happen in the first year but it’s been almost 3. All I keep getting told is to “keep an eye on it” but I’m scared and don’t know what to do…is it not working was it not administered correctly last time? I’m not pregnant I’ve taken many tests. Thank u :)
