My experience : Nervous about going on Yaz for Mirena induced? PCOS at 38-years-old

I wasn't sure which flair to use for this post.

I have been having some abnormal vaginal and cervical occurrences for the last couple of years. I am on my 5th year of using Mirena. Last year I had to get a cervical polyp removed and had to get a cervical biopsy for the lowest threshold of irregular/precancerous cells. The biopsy came back negative.

This year I got a pap smear and I had both fluid in my abdomen(?), and a cyst my vagina. I have now been diagnosed with PCOS, and will temporarily be going on birth control (Yasmin) in addition to keeping the Mirena inside of me.

I asked my gyno if Mirena could cause the PCOS, and she said maybe/maybe not, but that it had to be cleared up regardless, since it puts me at risk for cancers. I have had some weight gain, a few bits of hair growth on my chin, and light acne around my forehead.

I also have PMDD, OCD, ADHD, Depression and Anxiety. I'm nervous that birth control will make me even more moody. I previously have taken 100-150 mg of Zoloft/sertraline and guanfacine together, but have asked my psychiatrist if I could go on an SNRI like Effexor since I have so many comorbidities, wanted to just be on one pill for my mental health, and because I wanted to lose some weight. Now I'm thinking the weight gain might actually be the PCOS. I just wish I wasn't starting two medications at the same time, as I don't know which medication is causing which side effects. The last couple of years I have been growing increasingly more depressed in the lack of happiness department, but I also feel like 'who hasn't been?' with the way the world, news, and global pandemic goes.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Had suspected Mirena induced PCOS? How did you treat it? Or have you had PMDD and been prescribed Yasmin?

Also what precautions should I take when being on birth control?

Thank you!

Edit: She prescribed Yasmin not Yaz. Sorry about that.
