My experience : Painful spotting while on the pill?

Hi there, I have been experiencing some spotting lately, probably due to the fact that I had skipped my placebo pills for a few months. Once I did take them, I started experiencing some spotting. It wouldn't bother me too much, if it weren't for the fact that it is quite painful, like my period usually is. Is it weird? My obgyn is still on holiday so I have to wait a few more weeks before being able to see her. Has it happened to any of you? Thanks guys!
