My experience : Switching from Kyleena IUD to Mirena IUD procedure
Success!!! I switched from my old IUD to the new one and the procedure went so well! I had the Kyleena for about a year and half and it did not vibe well with my body. CONSTANT bleeding, like i'm talking for example last month I had my period 3 times, as well as terrible cramps that I used to never experience. I also would bleed every time after sex. I was fed up and decided to switch to a higher dosage that my doctor said should solve those issues (fingers crossed).
But I was so absolutely terrified. How was getting the IUD taken out gonna feel? How was it gonna feel getting a new one in?? Well getting it removed was a weird feeling but didn't hurt, she just yoinked that sucker out real quick and I was shocked how easy it was.
I had my doctor use numbing for the actual placement, which meant 4 pinches and she was saying “honestly this is gonna hurt worse than what we regularly do” I didn't care. And honestly compared to when I first had it done…I barely felt the big ol’ needle numbing me up, and then the pinch to hold the cervix open I literally didn't even feel it at all……at all. But when she put the actual IUD in, I did feel that and gripped the stress ball and let out a big YELP! It was not horrible at all though and was super fast and then I just felt that feeling that something new was in my body and some cramping.
I’m so grateful it was an easy process, it's funny I almost cried before she came in the room because of how scared I was. I also wonder if it didn't hurt as much since my body had experienced it before and was used to having something foreign in there.
