My experience : Experiencing blood after sex - could this be post birth control syndrome?
hello everyone, I stopped using the combo bc pill back in February 2022. I have since not had a normal period 7 months later. The only blood I have seen is recently, after the last several times I’ve had sex - both me and my partner had bloody discharge on our bodies and after using the bathroom - the toilet paper had bright red blood and sticky-like discharge - quite a bit of it too.
I’ve taken every post-bc supplement that I’ve read that can help benefit hormonal balance including magnesium, zinc, and even Estrosmart by Smart Balance. I’ve tried to reduce my stress, get good sleep, have a clean diet and exercise daily. I’ve been tracking my calories to make sure I’m eating enough everyday too.
One thing also to note is that I’ve had pretty bad hormonal acne return after getting off birth control - this has since tamed down after I’ve started taking my skincare routine seriously and was prescribed tretinoin topically. Now my skin is thankfully starting to clear up and looking even better than it did when I was on the pill. Same with my hair - I’ve been taking a lot better care of it.
I’ve been doing a ton of research on hormonal balance post using birth control and I feel so frustrated and sad because I haven’t received a period yet. Has anyone else had similar symptoms (blood after sex but no spotting otherwise) after stopping hormonal bc? I’m getting to the point where I think I should get my hormones tested but I currently don’t have health insurance and I’m living internationally so health care is just not at my disposal at the moment.
Any advice or insight would be appreciated.
