My experience : Enskyce vs. ??
I’ve been on enskyce for 3 years now. Only recently did I realize that starting enskyce more or less coincided with the beginning of severe abdominal pain that after tests and a colonoscopy had no known causes. I never even imagined it could possibly be due to my birth control. I’d get this pain/heaviness in my stomach sometimes for weeks at a time but always attributed it to stress/eating poorly but once I really started paying attention realized it didn’t correlate to my eating. After considering the possibility of it being birth control I decided to test that theory and go off. I’ve been off it for about 3 weeks now and the pain has almost entirely gone away and I’m no longer constipated all the time. It could just be a coincidence, but nothing about my diet, exercise, or other medications has changed since I stopped.
I’m hesitant to restart this pill, but I also don’t want to be without birth control. I go to a new ob/gyn next month and just wondering if anyone had similar symptoms on enskyce, that did not recur on a different pill? I was on nexplanon before this and while I didn’t hate it I’m also hesitant to getting another implant before trying other oral options because it’d be harder to stop if I had unbearable side effects this time around. I know each persons experience with any birth control is subjective, but I’m hoping to be able to go into this appointment more prepared than I have in the past. In the past when I’ve chosen method of birth control it was basically just choosing the method.
