My experience : ParaGard came out of place, freaking out
I found out today at my 6 week post-insertion follow up that my ParaGard IUD was lower than it should have been, so it's been ineffective for however long it's been since it shifted. I had unprotected sex just a few days ago, and I'm really freaking out that I could have gotten pregnant :(
My ob-gyn removed it today since it had moved and gave me a urine pregnancy test, which turned out negative. My period is late right now (44 days since the previous), but my cycle is irregular due to a medication I take; my cycles recently have ranged from 31-42 days. Can I trust this negative result? Is there anything I can do in the meantime? My BMI is >35, which is too high for Plan B or Ella to be effective. I asked about getting the IUD replaced, but she said they would need to order me another one, and also that I might just not be a good candidate for IUDs, since I had a lot of trouble even getting this one in.
Would anyone have any suggestions? Is there anything to do besides wait?
