Obstetrics - Is cyclic progesterone therapy an evidence-based treatment?:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Is cyclic progesterone therapy an evidence-based treatment?"

Why is there so little information available on the Internet about cyclic progesterone therapy? My obgyn (an MD at a university hospital) prescribed it to me for irregular periods during perimenopause, but when I search online for further details or discussions about it, I get very few results. One is the website cemcor.ubc.ca (where the therapy originated), aka cemcor.ca and cemcor.net and cemcor.org, and the rest appear to be naturopaths or other alternative medicine-oriented private practices. It's mentioned in PCOS forums, and a I see an NIH case study about an epileptic patient. There are some hits about cyclic estrogen/progesterone therapy, but not much about progesterone alone.

Maybe I'm not the most proficient user of search engines, but I've never had such a hard time researching a medical issue before! I'd love to hear some professionals weigh in on this therapy! Is it well known and accepted by evidence-based doctors? Is it new? Is it the one weird tip your doctor doesn't want you to know? ;-)
