My experience : Being forced off of Sprintec

Hey ladies,

Title says it all. I've been on Sprintec (or generic) for probably 15 years at this point. I love it. I love the predictability of my knowing when my period will start and having the ability to skip them. I have no issues remembering to take it, no side effects or have grown so accustomed to them it's a null point. Unfortunately, my blood pressure is starting to creep up (systolics 130-140) and my gynecologist is insisting on switching me to a progestin only form. She already gave me an extra 6 months on Sprintec to get me through my wedding with the promise that I'd be in her office this month. So, here we are.

I do not want the copper IUD, depo shot, or the nexplanon implant. My options are a progestin only pill or a progestin only IUD (like Kyleena). I am leaning towards the IUD because there won't be as much systemic absorption as there would be with the pill. Just terrified of getting acne, mood swings, weight gain, hair loss, etc at the age of 33. I'm not really afraid of the insertion/pain- I'm confident in my gyn's abilities/knowledge and I deal with chronic pain daily.

Anyone here come off a combo pill and switch to a progestin IUD, or anyone on a progestin only pill? Please tell me your success stories and your side effects. Seriously dreading this appointment on Tuesday (I fully plan on begging for more months on estrogen if she'll let me).
