My experience : Black blood clots and pain??

I originally got my iud (Kyleena) placed 5 years ago this month. I am due to get it removed and changed at the end of the month. My period was always pretty regular throughout the 5 years but last month I never got it (I have taken multiple pregnancy tests that came back negative). Earlier this week, I ended up having sex with my partner and immediately afterwards, I felt immense stabbing pain and cramping, a bit similar but MUCH worse than any cramps before or even the pain I had during iud implantation. It lasted for consistently for hours on end for about two days before it went away. This week I’ve finally gotten what I thought is my period but I am now passing very large, long, and dark black blood clots. Is this my period or is this a sign of something different going on?
