What birth control options are available?

My experience : Why did I randomly start having a period again after 7 years of not having one from birth control? (with no change in method)

I have used nexplanon for the past 9 years, currently on my fourth iteration of the implant. Since the beginning I never had a period with this type of birth control. But then, 2 years ago, I randomly started having a period again and it’s been decently regular ever since. When it started, I was on my third implant that was one year old.

I probably should have asked this sooner bud I’m really tired of having to deal with a period when I didn’t have to for so long. There is no obvious causes to why this would happen - I was on the same exact birth control, I had no other medication changes, and no major change in my lifestyle. The only major thing that happened was I had 2 emergency brain surgeries 8 months before this started, but I don’t think that could be related because none of my medication was changed and i was mostly recovered when the period came back.

So I’m posting to see if anyone knows why this could have happened. It’s really frustrating. Thank you so much
