My experience : Taking continuously and having long period

I'm on sprintec 28 and I've been skipping my placebo week. Previously I had tripped the annovera ring and got a horrible period that lasted way too long, I cant even remember but it was almost 3 weeks i believe of spotting and then a full period, and my doctor switched me to sprintec. I haven't had any issues, but last week I noticed I was spotting and it turned into a full blown period. Now its been 8 days and I'm just so scared it's happening again. I know breakthrough bleeding is a thing, but is this normal?
