My experience : Do I need to resort to plan C (copper IUD)?
My partner and I [24F] noticed the condom broke 2 days ago during sex. Usually, I wouldn’t be overly concerned given I take my combination birth control religiously. However, I recently was on augmentin to treat a UTI. I’m very confused as to whether this antibiotic impacts the effectiveness of my birth control (specifically Junel-FE). I did take Plan B the next day but it occurs to me that I was at around Day 19 of my 28 day cycle and I’m not clear as to whether Plan B is even effective after this point. Technically, I shouldn’t be ovulating but with the antibiotic usage I’m now not sure. I am trying to decide if I need to get a copper IUD stat (like tomorrow or the next day) to prevent a pregnancy. For reference I was on the antibiotics days around Day 10-12 of my cycle. I have contacted my gyno and am waiting to hear back but any other insight would be really helpful.
