My experience : Is it normal that my periods hasn't gotten lighter on birth control pills?
I have been taking combo pills for almost a year now. My periods have changed - before BC, the first and second day were the worst (most painful, with most blood and clots), now I think the 2nd and 3rd day are like this. HOWEVER my periods did not get lighter and I can see my uterus still sheds its lining quite a lot every time... I specifically used a menstrual cup during this bleeding to check it - the blood is really red, not brownish, and there are blood clots and long strings of lining (TMI).
I do not care about that so much, as I'm used to heavy periods, but I'm just wondering, aren't pills supposed to change that for the better? Are they working enough? Are they too weak, or do they still provide protection? What I'm afraid of is just that they're not working...?
