My experience : IUD with Vulvodynia (Vaginal Pain)
So as the title states, I’m getting an IUD inserted tomorrow with severe Vulvodynia. Pap smears have me yelling in pain. I can’t take oral contraceptives anymore because they worsened my condition, so I’m going for the IUD. Even though obviously sex is not common or at all comfortable for me, I still want some kind of control over my own sexuality/sexual health so I still want a birth control option. I have a very caring gyno and I am able to get a paracervical block, but I’m still worried. Most people’s accounts don’t take into consideration how the various tools could affect someone with Vulvodynia.
Anyone have a perspective that can give me an accurate (even if brutal) idea of how it will feel?
