My experience : Switching from birth control pills to Copper IUD this week--ADVICE PLEASE! :)
Hi all :)
I started birth control pills in January of this year. After going off the pill 2 months later after a breakup and subsequently back on after a new relationship 1.5 months later, my suspicions were confirmed: the pill was messing with me.
Main things I noticed as the result of the pill: wayyyy lower sex drive, cried way easier, dimmer mood overall (not depressed per se, but lower energy, decreased motivation). Overall, (and I know this is not very "quantifiable") but I didn't feel like myself! More disconnected from my body..also feel that orgasms are more difficult on the pill, any thoughts?
Though the pill experience was only a few months for me, I decided I wanted off NOW. Specifically, wanted the copper IUD for its non-hormonal feature. I am crossing my fingers that my sex drive comes back and so does that dim, depressive-esque feeling goes away. I will be really disappointed if nothing changes :(
Any advice for how to prepare day of/make the recovery any quicker? I was prescribed cytotec night before/morning of to help with cervix softening. I have heard this makes you feel more crampy? I am apprehensive about appointment, hoping it goes well. How much bleeding should I expect afterwards? When did you feel up to having sex again? And when did your sex drive return for those that have had the same experience? Any advice would be helpful, thank you so much!
