My experience : Depo Shot - Period Came Back After Being Gone for Months

Hi guys, I've been on the depo shot for around 5 months (got my 2nd dose around 2 months ago) and so far it's been going great, and I hadn't had any period aside from a very small one with a tiny amount of bleeding a couple of weeks after my first dose. However, today I randomly got my period out of nowhere, and it's not that light - when I felt it come and I went to the toilet there was a fair mount of bright red blood. Is this normal? I've been quite stressed lately due to preparing to move house so could it be triggered by stress? I'm concerned in case the depo shot could be losing effectiveness or something. And also because my periods are horrific and I was glad to see the back of them :(
