My experience : Depo, IUD vs Implant
I am 35 and I went for my pill check (been on Microgynon 30 (combined pill) since I was 18 with no issues. Unfortunately due to weight gain I have been told that I need to come off the combined pill. My blood pressure and everything else is fine. I am trying to lose the weight. The nurse was very blunt her response she mentioned the mini-pill (used cerazette) before I went on the combined pill at 18. My periods stopped for a bit but then were continuous for about 4 weeks so I came off it. Therefore I’d like to avoid it. She mentioned an IUD, depo or Nexplanton. I’d like to avoid the IUD as the whole insertion thing freaks me out. This leaves Depo or the Implant. What are peoples experiences of these types of contraceptives?
