My experience : Need to get an IUD without parents knowing but don't know how and need help
Hello, I'm 18F and I've been on birth control for I think almost a year and a half now? I started taking it for possible endometriosis (doctor suggested that it was the problem but it was not diagnosed nor confirmed). At this point I don't think I have it but as I'm sexually active, I'm still taking it. My mum doesn't know that I'm taking it for the sole reason of pregnancy prevention, however when I was with my ex (at 17) she found out I was sexually active with him. It turned into a whole shit storm and since then she's not mentioned me taking birth control, she just kind of lets me because it makes her feel safe and secure about my sexual habits. And not going to lie that makes me feel extremely gross and like some kind of s word.
I'm with my current boyfriend now and we are sexually active, and I would love to stop taking the pills and go to a copper IUD, but I don't know how I can get one without either of my parents knowing. I brought up getting a hormonal IUD with my mom and tried to play it off as being for my endometriosis, but she says that the IUD is purely for birth control, and so she's heavily against it and wants me to keep taking the pills. I hate how they make me feel. Since taking birth control my motivation for anything is dead. I feel more grumpy and aggravated and irritated. I want to get a non hormonal IUD but I can't have my parents know.
For context I live in Alberta, Canada. I'm of course under my parents health insurance and I have no idea how things work honestly, as in, how do I get this IUD without them knowing? I would need a ride to actually get it too since I don't have my license, but I'd honestly like to figure out how to actually get the thing without them knowing in any way.
And I'm very anxious about it because the reason my mum found out I was sexually active with my ex was thanks to my doctor writing it on the sheet she printed for me to make an ultrasound appointment, related to my endometriosis :/ so now I'm scared my doctor will somehow spill the beans on the fact I'm getting an IUD and I have no idea how to avoid it. If anyone has any suggestions, how to get it in secret, how to pay for it and how much it would be (I recently got a job so I could potentially pay for it myself if I save.) Any help would be appreciated.
