Obstetrics - 37 weeks growth ultrasound found slightly enlarged lateral ventricle after all other ultrasounds have been normal.:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "37 weeks growth ultrasound found slightly enlarged lateral ventricle after all other ultrasounds have been normal."

Every scan , including the anatomy scan, have been normal. We are getting extra scans due to a marginal cord insertion and baby has been measuring >97% (husband is 6’8”). We got completely blindsided when our OB told us at 37 weeks that the baby’s scan showed a slightly enlarged lateral ventricle ( she said it was 12mm). We have an appointment in 4 days with a specialists (MFM) to get another ultrasound but am freaking out. It seems this is usually detected at the 20 week anatomy scan so it’s just a complete shock that it wasn’t detected until now. The anatomy scan was good and we’ve had 3-4 scans afterwards with no issues. Googling is both worrisome and somewhat reassuring. Our OB was honest and said she didn’t know much about the issue and didn’t answer any questions as she didn’t want to give us false information. Just looking for any info on here as we wait the 4 days to meet with the specialist(s).
