My experience : Lightly spotting for several months? Should I be concerned?

I take the pill (Mono-Linyah) and the last time I got my period (took the placebo pills) was around 5 months ago and since then I’ve just been taking my pack continuously. This has caused me to be lightly bleeding all the time. I’m not usually alarmed because the blood is “normal”, brown/dark colored and mixed with some discharge. But some days it’s redder and slightly heavier. I especially notice this during sex.

It seems like I bleed way more during and it’s very red like I’m having a normal period. Then after I’m back to just lightly bleeding like usual or sometimes the bleeding will stop after a few days and then return back to a light breakthrough bleed.

Is this normal? Should I be worried that these side affects are happening because of something other than my birth control pill?
