Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.
My experience over Obstetrics "Should I request an ultrasound before appt?"
Hello, I am 38(f). I have an appointment for a routine mammogram in 2 days. I have what I think is a fluid filled cyst in my breast. It’s perfectly round and moves freely and has not increased in size at all. It does get smaller sometimes. Is a mammogram sufficient or should I call and tell them I need an ultrasound also or will they go ahead and order an ultrasound while I’m there? Sorry if this is a dumb question!
