My experience : Was getting the Kyleena a mistake?
I’ve been birth control free since 2018 when I had my Mirena removed after 7 years and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know they cycles that my body goes through. I’m very active which makes my period incredibly manageable! It has always been very short, very regular, and with minimal discomfort.
However, this year I broke up with my partner of 12 years and becoming sexually active without that established trust has been a little nerve wracking. I made a rush decision to get the Kyleena placed to avoid any risks of unwanted pregnancy but I’m a week in and I’m wondering if I’ve made a mistake.
This week has been miserable since I IMMEDIATELY got a yeast infection after it was placed. I feel bloated and “bleh” all the time, I’m having random stabs of pain (I’m assuming due to the trapped gas putting pressure on the IUD) I’m breaking out and I rarely get acne - even during menstruation! I have been fatigued and no amount of OTC pain relief will touch my headaches. I’m terrified of my hair thinning out since I already have very fine/thin hair.
My questions are: - Has anyone else ever stuck these symptoms out and not regretted it? - How long before your symptoms subsided? - Is there other forms of birth control that you’ve gone with that aren’t as intrusive? Possibly non-hormonal? - Any insight is appreciated!
