My experience : Is this normal bleeding?

I have been on loestrin for 3.5 years and I have taken the pills continuously to skip my periods. I have never had any kind of breakthrough bleeding in the past, but today I woke up spotting a decent amount and I'm having some mild cramping.

I haven't missed a pill in a long time, haven't started any new meds, I have been under a great deal of stress lately, and I had a pap smear about a month ago that came back normal (I did bleed for a day after the pap).

Is this normal? Is it something I should talk to my doctor about? Should I be taking a pregnancy test?
