My experience : Skipping a period (safe to do so?)

I recently went to my gynaecologist for the first time and we concluded that I either had endometriosis and/or primary dysmenorrhea (lucky me).

We talked about my symptoms, what I can do to manage the pain, and how to improve my quality of life again. They gave many helpful suggestions and talked me through everything, one of which was to skip my period and only get it three or so times a year. To be honest, I was all for it since my period is impacting my quality of life each month as I am unable to do anything for the first few days, much less keep a steady job. She told me it was perfectly safe to skip.

However, my doctor (who has endometriosis) claims it isn’t a good idea, and that I should just keep trying to rough it out. She was actually disappointed with the suggestions by my gynaecologist.

Now I’m very conflicted. On one hand I don’t want to mess anything up with my schedule (especially since I can accurately guess what day/time I’ll get my ‘period’) or have something potentially go wrong and have to start from square one again. But, on the other hand, I do want to some-what return to my old lifestyle and be able to start working again.

Thoughts and opinions…?
