My experience : IUD inserted whilst unknowingly pregnant
Is it normal to have a pregnancy test prior to having an IUD inserted? I had my IUD inserted 2 weeks ago, almost immediately after I was in agony, and bleeding extremely heavily. I was told pain and bleeding will ease after a few days. It didn’t calm down, so I took myself to hospital where they removed my IUD and I was sent on my way. After another 2 days I was still bleeding a lot. I called emergency gynaecology and they asked me to come in, where they did a routine pregnancy test, which came back positive. But sadly they discovered I was in the process of miscarrying because of the IUD insertion. Please tell me this isn’t normal? Surely I should’ve been tested before insertion?
