My experience : IUD insertion
I just got my implant removed and an Cooper IUD inserted. I’ve had two IUD in my 20’s. I’m now 34 and this procedure rocked me. All pretty straight forward until she let me know about the first “pinch”. It was intense stabbing pain, I yelped, then ran through some expletives. Second pinch was about the same intensity as the first but felt “deeper”? I’m trying to focus on breathing at this point. She turns to get the IUD ready, last pinch and I cry out LOUD. Small whimpers, I feel like my legs are trembling. The whole procedure must have been maybe 2-3 minutes. I’m so glad it’s over. I’m good until 2034. That was awful and embarrassing but I’m glad it’s done. I’m still cramping, going to pick up disposable heating pads and some green apple gummy rings. I’d say this is in the top 3 most painful things I’ve ever experienced. Number 1 and 2 are kidney infections, one of which I needed morphine. Today I took a 325mg Norco (hydrocodone/acetaminophen) and the pain was still very acute. Not sure not my age has something to do with but but the IUDs in my 20’s were NOTHING like this. Just my experience, not trying to scare anyone. But for the pay off I wound 100% do it again.
