My experience : IUDS & Developing Panic Disorder
So, I'm very aware that correlation does not equal causation, however I have stumbled upon what I find to be a bit of a puzzling coincidence. Five years ago I (27F at the time) had an IUD placement. Within six months of the placement I had a mental breakdown that ultimately ended up in the development of panic disorder with agoraphobia in comorbidity with my previously controlled CPTSD and Chronic Depression. I am on heavy medication to properly control my disorder to the point where I can actively challenge and work on it with therapy.
Fast forward to 2022 I (32F) have my IUD removed. Panic disorder and CPTSD was so bad on my way to the removal appointment that I threw up in my purse, then a nurse had to hold my hair while I vomited to the side during the removal. It has now been roughly two weeks since the removal and I have felt a noticeable uptick in my moods. Like, it feels like the enemy skyrim music has stopped playing in my head. I started doing some research and have noted that there are other women who have reported similar experiences.
Again, I know correlation is not causation, and perhaps I may be just feeling better from the results of my meds and therapy, but it's just a bit too coincidental to ignore.
