My experience : I am losing it trying to keep track of my BC symptoms
This is just a vent, sorry in advance.
I have been on BC for 6 years, starting with the pill, then Skyla, then Nexplanon, and now Mirena.
While on BC, I have experienced a ton of weight loss and weight gain, trouble sleeping, hair loss, mood swings, acne etc. It is so hard to differentiate whether these things are coming from outside stressors, age, or if they are from BC!!
I have read the informational pamphlets over and over for all the BC I have tried, tried to keep track of every change in the above list, and generally try to have mindfulness and awareness of my body. And it is just so frustrating not being able to tell if my issues stem from BC or not.
I know that BC is different for everyone, I just wish there was a definitive answer for literally anything. I ask a professional about BC side effects, they say they don’t know and won’t know until I’ve tried it. The only helpful tip I’ve gotten from them is that sometimes BC will exacerbate problems you already have.
I understand that there is only so much they can do, but man, I just wish BC wasn’t so unpredictable. I’m so thankful that this subreddit exists, because I feel like this is the only place I can find other people’s experiences.
The things we do to not get pregnant, or to regulate acne or periods…
Anyway, rant over. I hope, and feel, that other people feel this way. Thanks for reading!
