My experience : Patch cycle trouble (UK)

In the UK, the contractive patch cycle is: 3 weeks on, 1 week off, repeat cycle.

If I were to apply a patch, and keep it on through week 4 (which should be the break week), should I:

Start what would now be week 1 as the break week, and restart the cycle from there?

Or

Start what would be week 1 as normal, applying a new patch from then on for a total of 3 weeks, and having my break week fall when it usually should?
