My experience : Breakthrough bleeding??

Hi I’m 20F. I’ve been on my pill for like 3-4 years! My period has always been very normal on it and always comes on time. This month I’ve had a little brown discharge off and on for a week and a half while on my red pills (breakthrough bleed?) I’ve never had this before and don’t see why it would happen after all this time now. I just started my placebo pills (day 3) and the brown discharge is back with a tad red but it hasn’t gotten heavy like my usual period (I have cramps). I’m scared something is wrong with me because of the breakthrough bleed and now my period not coming out much. Has anyone had this???
