My experience : Copper IUD and Ovulation

I got my Copper IUD put in in November 2020, almost 2 years and everything has been fine...I think!

Im terrified of having another child as I have three. My husband and I have been very careful by using condoms when im ovulating along side my IUD and using the pull out method when im not ovulating.

Yesterday was the first day we have ever not used a condom or pull out method and according to my period tracker yesterday was the day before my Ovulation Day.

My question is to those of you who have IUDs, do you have unprotected sex regularly with your IUDs with no pull out or any other protection besides your IUD? Even on ovulation days? My husband said the IUD is enough protection and I shouldnt worry because our extra steps of protection are just that, extra and not necessary. I guess I'm just trying to feel better by hearing stories from others experiences because I feel sick to my stomach with worry!!

Disclaimer I can feel my strings like normal. I try to check them 2 or 3 times a month. There was one day a few months back where when I checked for the strings and my cervix felt very open and I swear I felt the rod of the IUD in my cervix. I checked a few days after that and it did feel normal again, cervix closed and just able to feel the strings. Every time i have checked since then I have never felt the rod, just the two strings. Anyone ever had a similar experience? I guess im worried that my IUD is possibly not in place because from what i read you should never feel the rod. My cervix did feel abnormally open that day so I kind of brushed it off then. But now, being worried about possible pregnancy it brought back that fear that my IUD might not be in place.
