My experience : Nexplanon and mini pill

I got the implant for almost a year and I have very painful periods and constant bleeding. The doctor recommended me to take the mini pill (I can't have the combined pill because of migraines) for a few months and if it works, to stay on both, nexplanon and mini pill, until I decided to stop contraception.

I cannot find information about how the mini pill will help the constant bleeding and I'm very confused as both methods are only progesterone. I'm also worried about how the levels of progesterone will affect me and my body and possible risks in a long term basis. The only thing I find it's that it's safe to do it but I don't understand how. It seems contradictory to add more progesterone when progesterone is what is causing me the issues.

Does anyone have information about it? Or experiences that can help me understand how it works? Thank you!
