My experience : Side effects of the implant
Hey all.
I’m curious what everyone’s experiences was with the implant the first six months after it was inserted and if the effects got better and more tolerable after that.
I had the implant inserted on Aug 5th. I have had pretty bad side effects since that, mostly constant on and off spotting, cramps, headaches, sore breasts and back pain. I was told by the nurse who inserted it that I should give it six months to “regulate” and see how I felt then.
To be honest, I’m feeling pretty discouraged with it. The biggest issue is the spotting/bleeding, separate from my period, which can be pretty heavy, and happens several days throughout the month.
Obviously, this isn’t going to work long term if this continues. If I have to have it taken out, I’ll be pretty upset because I was really hoping this world be an option for me. I live in Oklahoma, where abortion is illegal. It really scares me to not be on birth control. I can’t use the pill or the IUD. The implant is my only long term option. I am trying to get sterilized but until then this is what I have to work with.
So anyone who has had the implant, did the side effects get better after six months?
